WEBINAR: CURRENT APPROACHES OF CARE IN THE POST-COVID ERA

On February 9, 5th year students of the American MD Program of TSMU– Ani Pazhava and Giorgi Maziashvili organized the webinar: Current Approaches of Care in the Post-COVID Era. The event gathered professionals from Georgia, as well as the United States, involved in the different field of medicine.

„While thinking about what could have been interesting for fellow students and professionals in the field of medicine, we came to one conclusion. There were some data which could allow us talk about post-Covid era. By this, we mean that after learning for a couple of years about this novel virus, we have gathered the amount of information which allows us to move on to the new phase of dealing with pandemic – hence post-Covid era,“ – said the organizers of the event.

The topics of the webinar were following:
1. Lessons from Kidney Disease and COVID-19 Infection - Irma Tchokhonelidze, MD PhD; Head of Internal Medicine Department at TSMU; Coordinator of Internal Medicine Clerkship at American MD Program, TSMU; Head of Nephrology Department in High Technology Medical Center, University Clinic; President of Georgian Union of Dialysis, Nephrology, Kidney Transplantation.
2. Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children associated with SARS-CoV-2: Epidemiology, Diagnostic, Clinical Features and Treatment - Ivane Chkhaidze, MD PhD; Head of the Pediatric Department at Tbilisi State Medical University; Coordinator of Pediatric Clerkship at American MD Program, TSMU; Medical director at M. Iashvili Children's Central Hospital.
3. Challenges with COVID-19 Patients in the ICU – Nikoloz Kvachadze, MD; Coordinator of Emergency Medicine Clerkship at American MD Program, TSMU; Head of the department of Anesthesiology and Rheumatology at Khechinashvili University Hospital.
4. Adult Endocrinology Care in the Post-Covid Era: Experience in Georgia – Nino Gabidzashvili, MD; Coordinator of Endocrinology Clerkship at American MD Program, TSMU; Head of endocrinology department at American Hospital Tbilisi.

7. Long Covid... Many Manifestations and a Clue to Fatigue Associated with Immune Disorders – Gordon Churchward, PhD, Assistant Dean in Medical Education & Student Affairs of Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology.
8. Post COVID-19 Pandemic: Mental Health Complications – Eka Chkonia, MD PhD. Associate Professor of Psychiatry Department at TSMU; Coordinator of Psychiatry
Clerkship at American MD Program, Head of “Society of Georgian Psychiatrists”.
