The students of the USMD Program held the first ever onsite session of the UNC Neuropsychiatric Summit. The soon to be annual event brought together medical students from various Georgian universities to participate in clinical scenario workshops and had a chance to present their research posters. Professors and specialists from Georgia were invited to conduct the following educational workshops: Epilepsy - First Aid and Safety, led by doctors Tamar Ediberidze and Nanuka Kavlashvili. Participants were able to learn about different kinds of epileptic seizures and witness a simulated epileptic patient encounter for each type. Volunteer students had a hands-on experience with the simulated patient regarding immediate first aid after a seizure episode. Suicide Prevention-Handling suicidal patients, led by professors Natia and Salome Panjikidze.
